August 9, 1934 - July 29, 2013

Janet Lorraine Fontano Hoskin passed from this earthly life on July 29, 2013. Janet was born August 9, 1934 to Lurah and Kenneth Linder in Berkeley, CA where she lived for most of her early childhood. She spent many wonderful days with her grandparents on their ranch in Soquel. She later married Joseph Fontano (deceased 1983) and together they had four children - Jan Fontano (Gonsalves), Jeffrey Fontano, Joan Fontano (Yoos), and James Fontano (deceased 2002). Janet, being a military wife, traveled to several places while she and Joe raised their family. They lived in Kansas and Illinois, always returning to California.

After her husband passed away, Janet went back to school and later married the second love of her life, Jerry Hoskin. She loved her church and served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in several capacities. Janet and Jerry lived in Fremont and Watsonville, California and later moved to Gardnerville, Nevada where they were residing when she passed quietly in her sleep.

Janet always made friends quickly. With her beautiful red hair, quick smile, and infectious laugh you couldn’t help but want to be around her. She was able to find the humor in just about anything and could always find a way to lighten up any situation. She leaves behind her children, her sister, grandchildren, and many great grandchildren as well as cousins, nieces and nephews - all of whom brought her great joy and all of whom will be better for her love in their life.

She will be missed by all who knew her but we will all remember her with much love and gratefulness for the time we were able to share with her and for the example she set for us.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 9 th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1095 Spruce St, Minden, NV at 5pm.
