Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell peers into the rear view mirror and his crystal ball Tuesday, speaking at a Chamber of Commerce breakfast on the state of the city.Crowell will address members of the chamber and the community who attend the $20-per-ticket, 7:30 a.m. breakfast at the Gold Dust West Casino Resort, 2171 U.S. Highway 50.“He will give us the direction of the city,” Chamber Director Ronni Hannaman said, adding Crowell will help the audience “get a sense of where the economy is going” so business people know how they should proceed in 2013.In a release regarding the breakfast, the chamber noted the year might turn out to be a tenuous 2013 and said the mayor likely will address issues facing the downtown core.Included in that will be whether reducing Carson Street from four lanes to two would prove to be a panacea and what new businesses might be looking to relocate to Carson City, the chamber said.In addition, there were questions in the release regarding what is being done to fill vacant commercial space in north Carson and along the Highway 50 corridor east, as well as how legislative mandates could impact city finances.A full American breakfast will be served and the public is invited, with reservations required by calling 775-882-1565.
