Nominees sought for Red Cross Real Heroes celebration

The Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross will be honoring local heroes and citizens at the 10th annual American Red Cross Real Heroes Celebration, sponsored by Nevada State Bank, to be held on March 28 at the Atlantis Casino and Resort. Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 22 and are open to all residents from Washoe, Carson City, Douglas, Churchill, Lyon, Storey, Mineral and Nye counties.To nominate individuals, associations or companies who have gone above and beyond to help a friend, family member, community member or complete stranger in 2012, go to the chapter office or www.nevada.redcross.org The accomplishments and sacrifices of deserving heroes are recognized at this event thanks the generous support of corporate, foundation and individual sponsors. All proceeds from the Real Heroes celebration will remain in the area to ensure the local Red Cross is able to provide emergency assistance to local families affected by disasters, assist members of the Armed Forces and their families, and teach the community emergency preparedness and lifesaving skills.
