University of Nevada head football coach Brian Polian and his wife, Laura, will host the inaugural “Football 101” event for women Aug. 2 at 5 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. Joining the Polians will be additional Wolf Pack football coaches and their wives.

“Laura and I are thrilled to host the Football 101 event for women,” Brian Polian said. “It gives us a great opportunity to connect with our female Wolf Pack football fan base and provides us a way to offer support to a great organization in Moms on the Run. We are looking forward to Aug. 2 and have no doubt that this event will be a lot of fun for all involved.”

Moms on the Run is a Reno-based nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to women with breast cancer.

Admission to the event is $75 per person, or a table of 10 can be purchased for $650. Proceeds from the event will benefit Nevada football and Moms on the Run. Guests will learn about each player position, football vocabulary and experience hands-on game-day preparation that a Wolf Pack football student-athlete receives.

“I am really excited about hosting the event with Brian,” Laura Polian said. “I think this will be a great event for the women in our community. Not only can they have a great girls’ night out and learn some more about football, but they can do it while supporting two great causes in our community. I am looking forward to continue to add to my football IQ while having a fun evening out with some girlfriends.”

The event will be broken into four quarters and a halftime period. The first quarter (player check-in), second quarter (silent auction and hosted cocktails), halftime (dinner provided by Pinocchio’s), third quarter (pregame preparation) and fourth quarter (on-field playing time).

Participants are asked to dress in their favorite Wolf Pack attire and wear comfortable athletic shoes. Complimentary parking is available in the West Stadium parking garage.
