The Churchill County School District’s search for a new superintendent has been narrowed to three.
Edna LaMarca, Jose Delfin and Sandra Sheldon were selected as the three superintendent finalists by trustees Thursday night during their regularly scheduled meeting.
LaMarca, a 1970 Churchill County High School graduate, taught elementary and junior high school before serving as principal for Gerlach High School/Middle School and E.M. Johnson Elementary School from 2008-11; and as principal of Hawthorne Elementary/Junior High School, Primary School and Mina School in Mineral County from 1998-2000. She has been on a mission for the Church of Latter Day Saints since June 2011.
Delfin has been associate superintendent of Human Resources for the Carson City School District since 2008. Previously, Delfin was principal at Dayton High School in Lyon County from 2006-08. He was an assistant principal 2005-06 at Del Sol High School and 2004-05 at Virtual High School in the Clark County School District.
Sheldon is superintendent of the Warden School District in Warden, Wash., a position she has held since 2006. Her career in education dates to 1980, when she was a middle school special education teacher in Copperas Cove, Texas.
