State lawmakers will again consider mandating the registration of animal traps and allowing the public to move traps that pose immediate threats to people or pets.
Senate Bill 213 will be heard Tuesday by the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources, Agriculture and Mining. It passed the Senate earlier.
Sponsored by Democratic Sens. David Parks and Mark Manendo of Las Vegas and others, the bill requires all traps be registered with the state and have an inscribed identification number.
It also increases the penalties for tampering with a legally placed trap, but allows traps to be moved if they present a health risk.
Additionally, the proposal requires the Board of Wildlife Commissioners to set minimum visitation times for various types of traps.
