Candy tampering suspected in Fernley

Lyon County deputies are investigating a push pin found in a piece of Halloween candy Thursday evening in Fernley.

Police received around 6:30 p.m. and checked the 13 homes the child had visited in the Southwest Meadows of Fernley but found no evidence of tampering.

According to a press release issued Friday, there was a container of candy left outside one of the homes for children to help themselves.

“It’s possible that a third party could have tampered with it,” the release stated. “We are investigating that possibility.”

There were no other reports of tampering.
