Fallon Renegades cap undefeated season

Two Fallon SYFL teams finished the regular season with winning records as the youth football program enters the first round of playoffs this weekend.

Fallon’s Renegade team capped off a perfect year with a close win against Damonte Ranch while the JV team finished the year with a 6-2 record. Only one team (Freshman) ended the year with a below-.500 record.

Only the top eight teams advanced to the postseason with all but the Collegiate and Freshman teams extending their season into this weekend. The semifinals are next week, while the championship games are slated for Nov. 23.

Fallon finished the regular season undefeated in the Renegades division after edging Damonte Ranch by a touchdown, 13-6. The Greenwave improved to 8-0 and a three-way tie among Spanish Springs, Damonte Ranch and McQueen followed with each at 7-1.

Fallon hosts Reed at noon in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.

Despite a shutout loss, Fallon’s JV team ended the year with only two losses. Damonte Ranch finished unbeaten after a 33-0 win over Fallon in the JV division. The Greenwave, though, finished in fifth with a 6-2 record.

Fallon faces Lassen at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the playoffs at North Valleys High School.

The Greenwave blanked Damonte Ranch, 31-0, in the Bandits division to finish the regular season in eighth place at 4-4. Lassen, Reed, Spanish Springs and McQueen finished in a four-way tie for first at 7-1.

Fallon will host Lassen in the playoffs on Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Edward Arciniega Athletic Complex.

Damonte Ranch scored two touchdowns to hold off Fallon, 12-0, in the Mavericks division as the Greenwave fell to 4-4 and a seventh-place finish in the final regular season standings.

Fallon will play Wooster at 10 a.m. in the playoffs’ first round at North Valleys.

The Mustangs also shut out the Greenwave in the Varsity division after winning 25-0 to improve to 6-1-1. Fallon, though, fell to 4-4 and a seventh-place finish. The Greenwave take on Hug at 6 p.m. at North Valleys in the playoffs.

Damonte Ranch outslugged Fallon in the Collegiate game, 76-40, to finish 7-1 and in second. The Greenwave fell to 4-4 and ninth place and out of the playoff race.

Damonte Ranch dominated Fallon’s Freshman team, 38-6, to drop the Greenwave to two games below .500 as they finished at 3-5 and ninth place to miss the postseason.
