A special meeting to determine which of four headhunting firms will help search for Carson City’s new city manager is scheduled to begin at noon Tuesday.

At the session in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, the Board of Supervisors will hear presentations from and conduct interviews with representatives of the four firms. The firms were chosen from among nine with whom city government’s Human Resources Department had contact after City Manager Larry Werner announced he is resigning effective Dec. 19.

“At the conclusion of the interviews,” said an agenda summary from Human Resources Director Melanie Bruketta, “staff is requesting that the board select the firm it believes is the most qualified to assist in the conducting of the search.”

The firms and their projected costs, which accompanied the advance agenda, are:

Marathon Staffing of Alabama, which has a Carson City office, for a $7,500 nonrefundable retainer and $22,500 upon placement.

William Avery & Associates, Inc., Los Gatos, Calif., $17,900 with an initial retainer of $5,900 and two payments of $6,000 each after a field of candidates is named and upon search completion.

Ralph Anderson & Associates, Rocklin, Calif., $26,750 including all expenses, in four installments.

Bob Murray & Associates, Roseville, Calif., $20,500 plus expenses estimated at $7,500.
