November has been a great and busy month at Lahontan Elementary School.

We started off with parent/teacher conferences on Nov. 1. Thank you parents for your turnout and our staff looks forward in helping your child reach their academic goals. We also hosted a Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 8. breakfast was provided for our veterans and guests then the Lahontan community moved outside for a flag ceremony. The national anthem was sung by Jennifer Dove while the Naval Air Station Fallon Color Guard raised the flag. The ceremony was topped off by a select group of third graders who sang “God Bless America.”

First and second grade teachers participated in a math development training this month and all staff has been busy beginning the school needs assessment process called NCCAT-S. Thanksgiving break will be celebrated by students and staff today-Friday.

Recently, we announced our recipients for the Lahontan Character Counts Award. These students showed an outstanding effort in being respectful in everything they do: Chris Zierten (5th grade), Caleb Rushing (5th grade), Sabrina Aboytes Ambrocio (5th grade), Marcos Navarro (4th grade), Josh Bloomfield (4th grade), Grant Johnson (4th grade), Marissa Rau (3rd grade), Abel Vallaster (3rd grade), Sanai Barnes (3rd grade), Logan McKnight (3rd grade), Izabela Good Bear-Shell (2nd grade), Lain Worth (2nd grade), Gilbert Libao (2nd grade), Brenden Bernardo (2nd grade), Makayla Miller-Regli (1st grade), Edgar Gonzalez (1st grade), Nate Bernardo (1st grade) and Jonny Martinez Munoz (1st grade).

Also recently announced were our Students of the Months: Matthew Davis (5th grade), Kalea Lattin (5th grade), Bethany Rodgers (4th grade), Morgan Stacey (4th grade), Ryan Ramsay (3rd grade), Ashley Tenney (3rd grade), Aiden Gonzalez (2nd grade), Mackenzie McKnight (2nd grade), Hogan Stewart (1st grade) and Zoey McCorkle (1st grade).
