The Churchill County Pool is hosting a free Trunk-or-Treat event for youth on Oct. 30 from 5-6 p.m.
The event includes free treats, contests and prizes for prettiest, funniest, scariest and best boys and girls Halloween costumes. Local businesses or organizations may also participate in the trunk decorating contest and give out treats to local children.
Other activities ongoing at the pool are swim lessons, water in motion, wave classes, take away the aches, open and lap swimming.
Swim lessons are offered by the American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics. Sessions are for children 6 months to 3 years old and are 30-minute classes. Preschool Aquatics (2-5 years old), and learn-to-swim: levels 1-6. Preschool and learn-to-swim sessions are held once a week for 40 minutes from September through April for $30 per month.
Water in motion fall/winter classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7a.m., Monday and Wednesday at noon and Monday, Wednesday, Friday’s at 4 p.m. and 6:45p.m. Saturday classes at noon require a phone call or a signature on an interest list.
Passes and fees are interchangeable with wave classes. Water in motion sessions are $5 for drop-in or class passes are $35 for eight classes or $50 for 12 classes.
Wave classes help you maintain a strong body and to reach fitness goals using the benefits of water. These water exercise classes improve the body’s endurance, strength, flexibility and coordination using the therapeutic benefits of water.

Take away the aches runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:45a.m. These classes increase flexibility, strength and coordination with low impact exercise to improve daily living.
This class is excellent for people beginning an exercise program or people dealing with limited motion, diabetes and arthritis. All ability levels and non-swimmers welcome. Classes are $3 for drop-in or $22 for eight classes.
Open swim runs Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 3:30-5:45 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon-2 p.m., Family Night is Monday from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Each open swim day has a special theme with activities where participants can win free swim passes and prizes. Pirate Mondays, Water Gun Wednesdays, Olympic Fridays and Sea Shell Saturdays. Admission is $2 for youth/seniors, $3 for adults and passes are available.
Lap swim hours have been extended for the fall/winter season. Lap swim runs Monday-Friday from 5-8 a.m. and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday lap swim runs from 6-7:30 p.m. and lanes are available during open swim on Saturday’s from noon-2p.m.
