Fallon Rotary hosts Foundation dinner

The Rotary Club of Fallon is sponsoring the Area 10 Foundation District 5190 dinner on Nov. 8 at the Fallon Convention Center.

Area 10 Rotary Clubs include Fallon, Fernley, Smith Valley, Tonopah and Yerington. The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an open bar, and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Jennifer Burton will be the master of ceremonies.

This year’s theme is “The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly.” Attendees are encouraged to dress in western garb and join the costume competition. Prizes for the best western get-up — Good, Bad and Ugly — will be awarded by “Judge Roy Bean.” There will be a cooking “shootout” of the Area 10 clubs to determine which club makes the best spaghetti sauce. The coveted Golden Meatball Trophy will be awarded to the best sauce winner. There will be a live auction for the best spaghetti sauce recipe, along with a silent auction for wonderful items just in time for the holidays. The ticket price is $35 per person, and either contact Karla Kent at 775-691-9537 for tickets, or they are aalso available at Kent’s Supply Center or Nevada Computer Works.

Guest speaker will be Richard D. King, a past world president of Rotary International and senior partner in the California law firm King, King and King. He earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a distinguished military graduate of the University of California and served as an Army captain in military intelligence. King also received an honorary doctorate in law from Hanyang University in Seoul, Korea. He is married to Cherie Kay King and has two grown sons.

A Rotarian since 1968, King is a member of the Rotary Club of Niles-Fremont, Calif. He has served as trustee of the Rotary Foundation, director and as chairman of the executive committee of Rotary International’s board of directors. King has been a club president, district governor, international assembly instructor and official representative of the president of Rotary International. He has received the Rotary Citation of Meritorious Service, the Distinguished Service and the PolioPlus Pioneer awards.
