Three businesses failed alcohol compliance checks held by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

The checks were done during the office’s “Shoulder Tap Operation” in which individuals were asked by a decoy to purchase alcohol for him/her. The decoy informed those asked that he/she was underage and could not purchase the alcohol. During the operation, four individuals were approached during this operation of which two purchased alcohol for the decoys. These individuals were cited for furnishing alcohol to minors.

Also during this time, alcohol compliance checks were done at 34 establishments that sell alcoholic beverages. Servers at Eagle Valley Market, 933 Woodside Drive, at the Country Store, 3389 Highway 50 East, and at 7-11, 3838 Highway 50 East, were each issued a citation for providing alcohol to a minor.

The Sheriff’s Office routinely conducts these checks with grant money received from the Nevada Juvenile Programs Justice Office.
