Carson City’s Board of Supervisors is looking to fill open slots on the city Planning Commission and Regional Transportation Commission (RTC).
The board is seeking applicants to fill two spots on the planning unit, one on the RTC. The two planning panel positions are for terms that will expire in June 2018; the RTC slot is for a term that expires Dec. 31, 2014. All three are volunteer positions and the applicants chosen serve without compensation. Members of the RTC also serve on the Carson Area Metropolitan Organization (CAMPO), a larger regional body.
The Planning Commission deals with zoning and related issues; the RTC and CAMPO with transportation issues in the city and region, respectively.
Applications will be accepted until June 6 and interviews for those seeking the posts are tentatively set for the governing board meeting of June 19.
The planning commission meets on the last Wednesday of each month, normally at 5 p.m. in the Community Center’s Sierra Room. The RTC and CAMPO meetings run back-to-back in the same place, with RTC beginning normally at 4:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, and CAMPO soon after RTC’s adjournment.
Volunteer applications are available from City Hall at 201 N. Carson St., Suite 2, and information also is available atcarson.org/volunteer.
