The Churchill Arts Council just published its overview of 2014-20145 season brochure and membership information.
There will be a wide range of performances in the season including the nine member L.A.-based Americana ensemble, Dustbowl Revival, who will perform on September 13 in conjunction with the City’s Tractors and Truffvles food event. Then the Heritage Blues Quintet, the Grammy-nominated traditional blues group will perform on Oct. 18.
The John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band will breeze into town on Nov. 15 and coming up after the first of the year will be Lynn Arriale, Grace Kelly and Carla Cook. These three talented jazz performer will present “You Know How I Feel,” an interpretation of the musical stylings of Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone and Abby Lincoln.
The talented emerging Americana band, Rosco Bandana will bring their blend of country and rock to the Art Center on March 28, followed by the amazing, and Grammy-winning, artists from Quebec, Le Vent du Nord on April 25.
And, next June’s free in-the-park concert will feature Zydeco with Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys.
The season will also include two film series, one in October and another in February. The October series, Road Chronicles I, will feature “It Happened One Night” with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert; “Sullivan’s Travels” with Veronica Lake and Joel McCrea; and “Easy Rider” with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper.
The theme will continue in the February series, Road Chronicles II, which will include the films “Five Easy Pieces” with Jack Nicholson and Karen Black; “Wild At Heart,” with Nicholas Cage and Laura Dern; and “Thelma & Louise,” with Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis.
Visual art exhibitions will include paintings and prints by Montana artist Robert Royhl; large format landscape photographs by Stephen Chandler; the Lahontan Valley Invitational, featuring recent work by Churchill County artists; “Eye Need Nevada,” photographs by Jack Fulton and recent ceramic works by Joan Arrizabalaga, Edw Martinez and Catherine Schmid Maybach.
