A Carson City job fair next month will feature about 45 employers and job resources for those seeking employment, according to city government and two cooperating sponsors.
The event, slated Sept. 26 in the Carson City Community Center’s large gymnasium, will feature employers representing such fields as manufacturing, retailing, gaming, utilities and companies like staffing agencies, home health services, security firms and others. The fair is sponsored by Carson City Health and Human Services (HHS), Job Opportunities of Nevada (JOIN), and the city’s Chamber of Commerce.
“Past fairs have been well run and effective,” according to a chamber analysis. The local business organization has urged employers to see this as the perfect time to scout for fall and winter holiday employees.
Sponsors urged prospective employees to update and bring background information documents, be ready to fill out applications and dress appropriately for the fair, which is set to begin for most job seekers on that final Friday in September at 2 p.m. Veterans, however, will be allowed in at 1:30 p.m. The fair is expected to continue until 4:30 p.m.
The city’s Community Center is located at 851 E. William St. Carson City’s HHS offices, which are at 900 E. Long St., offer pre-job fair workshops for job seekers each Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. More information on that or the fair is available from Lynn Ellis, HHS workforce program case manager, who can be reached by calling (775) 283-7579 or 887-2190.
