The Churchill County School District Board of Trustees will meet Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. in the Churchill County Administration Office, 690 S. Maine St.
Items to be discussed and that are up for possible actions include the following:
For possible action: The board will receive an update regarding the Western Nevada College and Churchill County School District joint High School in the College Program and possibly take action to approve it.
For possible action: Selection of broker to provide property, liability and/or workers compensation insurance broker services for the period of March 1 through June 30, 2015, for the policy that will run July 1 through June 30, 2015.
For possible action: The board will determine the number of scholarships and the amount of money for the Churchill County Board of School Trustees Scholarship(s) for Churchill County High School seniors (Class of 2014). For discussion only: Review of Policy 8139 - Policy Committee (Internal Board Operations) - first reading (BMAR-29). For possible action: Discussion and possible action on Resolution 14-01, authorizing the superintendent or director of Business Services to arrange for the sale of bonds in the amount to be determined by the Board of Trustees, up to $10 million, and to notify the Churchill County Debt Management Commission of the district’s proposal to issue bonds (BMAR- 8). For possible action: The board will discuss the minimum balance for the board’s Contingency Fund (BMAR-23). For possible action: The board will discuss requiring written or verbal reports from all employees who travel outside the district for training, including in the report information on the effectiveness of the training for the district. The board may consider creation of a policy to formalize a reporting requirement (BMAR-2). For discussion and possible action: Request a representative from the state attorney general’s office provide the board with open meeting law training.
