3 arrested on DUI charges during saturation patrol Wednesday in Carson City

Three people were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence during the Carson City Sheriff’s Office saturation patrol on Carson Street.

In addition, seven citations were issued for traffic violations, according to Sgt. Scott McDaniel. Three vehicles also were towed and a minor also was cited for being under the influence of alcohol.

Also, one person was arrested for an alternative sentencing violation of drinking while on probation.

In addition, with the assistance of K-9 Tarzan, 2.5 ounces of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia was recovered from one of the traffic stops leading to an additional arrest

In Stateline, two dozen people were arrested during the New Year’s Eve celebration on Tuesday night.

Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks said the Highway 50 through Stateline was closed at 11:40 p.m. Brooks described the crowd as seeming no larger than last year’s, which was estimated at around 30,000 people.

The highway was cleared of celebrants by 12:20 a.m. and reopened at 1 p.m.

Charges for those arrested included assault, affray, domestic battery, disorderly conduct, minor consuming alcohol and civil protective custody, Brooks said.

The night was quiet in Carson Valley with one person arrested for DUI, Brooks said.

“The various law enforcement and support agencies involved in this year’s event worked extremely well together,” Brooks said.

No public safety personnel reported injuries during the night.

In Reno, police arrested 27 people Tuesday night on violations ranging from battery to urinating in public.

In Las Vegas, police say that as of 2:30 a.m. Wednesday seven people were arrested on the Las Vegas Strip and six were arrested in the downtown area. Final arrest totals in Southern Nevada will be available today.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says five people in the Northern Nevada region were arrested for DUI. Troopers also responded to six traffic collisions, none involving life-threatening injuries.
