Tickets are on sale now for the annual Concert Under the Stars: A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, which takes place July 9, at Café at Adele’s in Carson City and features The Little River Band and Fred Tackett and Paul Barrere of Little Feat.

The evening includes a live auction with a wide variety of big ticket items and a “Chair-ity” silent auction. So far, there are 13 chairs that have been designed and donated by local people and each will have a bio explaining who the artist is.

“The Chair-ity silent auction benefits the Carson High Capitol FFA Chapter,” said Michele Lewis, silent auction coordinator. “Funds that are raised will help the Capitol FFA members travel to state and national competitions.”

The live auction is always a crowd favorite and this year includes wine tasting for 20 people at Total Wine’s Tasting Room, value $2000 and donated by Fred and Brenda Schmidt; two Landscape Design Consultations, value $150 each, donated by JoAnne Skelly; Front Door supplied by Superior Door and Window: removal of existing door and re-installation of a new front door by Lopiccolo Construction with door trim inside and outside and painting, valued at $3,000 and donated by Mark and Jenny Lopiccolo; Two Hour Ride on the Douglas County Sheriff’s Lake Tahoe Patrol Boat donated by Sheriff Ron Perini, value is priceless, donated by Michele and Steve Lewis.

“We have some wonderful items and the generosity of our community is once again shown by the caliber of items we are able to offer,” said Karen Abowd, Greenhouse president. “One of the favorites of course, is dinner with the band, as it is a priceless opportunity after the show to sit down and visit with them.”

She recounts a gentleman who purchased dinner with Booker T. a couple years ago.

“He purchased dinner for his grandson, who was an aspiring musician,” she said. “They made some amazing memories that night, and there is no price you can put on what that meant to either one of them.”
