JUSTICE COURT: Fallon man suspected of stealing guns

A Fallon man appeared Wednesday in Justice Court on six felony charges resulting from a burglary on March 17.

Eric Nelsen faces four counts of grand larceny of a firearm and one count each of burglary with possession of a firearm and grand larceny of personal goods more than $3,500.

Nelsen was arrested by authorities and is suspected of stealing “jewelry and precious metals” and four pistols including a .380-caliber Bersa Thunder, a .40-caliber Walter PPS, a .40-caliber Taurus Millen and a .454-caliber Ruger KSR8 revolver.

Nelsen, who said he is on disability, was appointed Jacob Sommer as his attorney.

In other court news —

Tera Elizarraraz of Fallon faces a trio of child endangerment charges stemming from an incident on June 27.

According to the criminal complaint, Elizarraraz was supervising three children while intoxicated. The children have been placed in a foster home, according to Churchill County Deputy District Attorney Wade Carner.

Carner also said Elizarraraz has a previous arrest for child endangerment. Elizarraraz, however, was released under the supervision of Court Services and must not have contact with the children and test daily for drugs and alcohol.

Carrie Gonzales of Fallon faces three felonies stemming from a burglary on March 29.

She is charged with burglary, grand larceny of a motor vehicle and grand larceny of personal goods more than $3,500.

According to the criminal complaint, Gonzales entered the home of Lauren Sealock with a codefendant and stole a Toyota Scion.

Gonzales told the court she suffered a relapse several months ago and started drinking and using drugs heavily. She entered a treatment program at Carson Tahoe Hospital last winter and completed a 30-day program in May at New Frontier in Fallon.

She was released to Court Services and must report to Court Services for drug and alcohol testing. She was appointed Dave Neidert as her attorney.

A Fallon man received a suspend prison sentence Tuesday in District Court, although he must serve 90 days in the Churchill County Jail.

Chrisitan Rene Godinez-Zuniga was sentenced to 12-36 months in prison, but was placed on probation for five years and must serve the 90 days.

Godinez-Zuniga admitted to violating his probation and was revoked from the Diversion Program. As part of his probation, he must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow any recommendations.

A Reno man arrested last week appeared Thursday in Justice Court on a suspicion of drug trafficking.

Eric Martinez of Reno and his attorney, Paul Quade, asked for and received a lower bond. The amount was reduced to $20,000 and Martinez is scheduled to appear in court on July 17.

He and co-defendant are charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, commission of an unauthorized act relating to a controlled substance, possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance and two counts of possession of controlled substance.
