Speakeasy Dance Party set for Aug. 9

The Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival will present “Jump-Jive” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 in the Ballroom in the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St.

This Speakeasy Dance Party celebrates music, dance, and art. Tickets are $10 and admission includes light refreshments, a no-host bar, the seven-piece band Brass Knuckles, original artwork and prizes. All are welcome; those age 21 and over need to bring an ID. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the dance band plays from 8 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are available online at JazzCarsonCity.com, at Play Your Own Music in the Carson Mall, at the Purple Avocado, 904 N. Curry Street, and at the door. Also on Aug. 9, the Sassafras Fundraising Festival, “Save Our Sass,” will be held at the BAC from noon to midnight. Each Speakeasy Dance Party guest who arrives wearing a “Save Our Sass” wristband, will get a $2 rebate on the $10 ticket. (Admission to “Save Our Sass” is a separate $25 fee).
