On Friday, the engines will roar as the seventh annual Octane Fest rolls into Fallon.

The festival is highlighted by numerous racing events throughout Churchill County and finishes with the monster truck jamboree at the fairgrounds.

This year, however, the jamboree adds a new twist — two shows. Gates open for Friday’s at 5:30 p.m. and the second show on Saturday kicks off at 6 p.m.

Saturday’s action at Rattlesnake Raceway commences at 11 a.m. with a no car minimum. In addition, the money races will payout $2,000 for the IMCA, $1,000 for IMCA and $700 for Sport B Mods.

At Top Gun Raceway, the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series makes its return to the strip. Action begins Saturday at 8 a.m. and at 9 a.m. Sunday.

The jamboree, meanwhile, features the first-ever monster truck 360-degree back flip in Northern Nevada.

“Jimmy Creten driving Iron Outlaw will attempt the 360 on Saturday’s show only,” WGAS and Octane Fest promoter John Borba, said. “We’ll have two days of monster trucks this year and Friday’s show will feature a free pit party for those with tickets. And, Bounty Hunter, a monster truck icon, will be here on both days,” Borba said.

Octane Fest combines dirt track racing, drag racing, freestyle motocross and monster trucks in an action packed three days of motorsports.

“Motorsports are a part of the racing culture in Fallon. Rattlesnake Raceway oval dirt track is the oldest racing venue in Nevada. Top Gun Raceway is one of the nicest drag strips in NHRA Division 7 racing,” said Rick Gray, executive director of the Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority.

A Sand Mountain component is planned for the future. Sand Mountain is a dune 25 miles east of Fallon.

The jamboree includes a free pit party, freestyle motocross competition, mud drags and monster trucks. Saturday’s event will feature the back flip by Jimmy Creten driving Iron Outlaw. Both days feature the monster truck, Bounty Hunter.

Advance tickets are available at all O’Reilly Auto Parts stores in northern Nevada. Get complete info at www.visitfallonnevada.com/octanefest.
