Gerald “Jerry” Glen Turnbow

Gerald “Jerry” Glen Turnbow, 86, of Fallon, Nevada passed at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada surrounded by his wife and four children. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014, 11:00 am, at St. John Lutheran Church, Fallon, Nevada, with Pastor Alan Hilton officiating. Born to W.B. and Lottie P. (Waltman) Turnbow he is preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Inez M. Turnbow; two sisters, Betty Taylor and Mary Ellen Runnings, five brothers, Bob, Richard, Mickey, Patrick, William and step brother Garth Haddock. Jerry graduated from Kellogg High School in 1946 and then joined the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy for four years, Jerry attended the University of Washington where he received an Associates Degree. He was called back to duty during the Korean conflict and upon his return he met and married Corrine Hermanstad on August 19, 1955 in Halliday, North Dakota. Jerry joined the Bunker Hill Mining Company in 1955 where he worked in purchasing. He then moved to Human Resources and continued on to become the Vice President of Employee and Public Relations. Following the close of the Bunker Hill Mine, he and Corrine moved to Richland, WA where he was the Human Resources specialist for Westinghouse at the Hanford Nuclear facility and retired at the age of 65. Jerry and Corrine split their time between Rose Lake, ID and Tempe, Arizona until moving permanently to Fallon, Nevada in 2008. He was a member of the Elks Fraternal Organization for over 60 years, an active member in the VFW, member of the St. John Lutheran Church and devoted dog care taker to Bobby’s dogs, Gretchen and Argie Ann. He is survived by his wife; Corrine Turnbow, children; Judy (Emil) Prince of Charlottesville, Virginia, Kellie (Mike) Lavigne of Wallace, Idaho, Bob (Denise) Turnbow of Fallon, Nevada, and Jeffrey Turnbow of Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandchildren Daniel Prince and Tyler Prince, Courtney (Evan)Wilson, Ben Lavigne, Lauren Lavigne, Shaun Richardson, Matthew (Laura) Howard, Kimberly (Mat) Boni, and his great-grandchildren, Mason White, Marcus White and Blaire Avery Wilson. Above all things, Jerry loved his devoted wife and family and took pride in the bond that he held with each of his brothers and sisters. His most cherished memories are those that were created surrounded by his loved ones at the family lake cabin in Rose Lake, Idaho where he spent every summer for over 40 years. Jerry never missed a birthday or holiday where he didn’t make a special call to his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite holiday memories were spending Christmas Eve at Uncle Bob’s, New Years’ Day with his brothers in Kellogg, Idaho having “Boys Only” parties with all of the men in the family and his closest buddies and the July 4th bash at Rose Lake. As an avid sports enthusiast, he was always in the middle of the action and never shied away from letting people know who he thought were the greatest teams around. Jerry was a lifelong fan of the University of Washington Huskies and the Idaho Vandals. The family would like to give thanks to everyone who made an impact on Jerry’s life. Jerry will be sorely missed by the immense number of people who had the great pleasure to be touched by his life.
