The Fallon Force under-12 softball team took home the “Battle in the Basin Qualifier” tournament championship in Elko on Sunday.
Seven teams from Northern Nevada competed in the 12U division. The Force finished Saturday’s round robin with a 3-0 record, beating the Sparks Elite, 2-1, Fernley Dynamite, 8-0, and Lovelock Firecrackers, 10-4.
Seeded second in Sunday’s tournament, the Force beat the Sparks Elite, 5-1, Fernley Dynamite, 15-0, and the Carson Sharks 4-2 in the championship game.
“Our team continues to improve in all aspects. Our defense is stingy and our hitting has remained solid,” coach Karl Buckmaster said.
