RENO — Reno police say they made 30 arrests for solicitation for prostitution during a sweep on the edge of downtown during the first weekend of the Reno Rodeo.
The two-day operation focused on the Fourth Street corridor but Reno detectives also operated out of rooms at a downtown hotel.
Police used sting money provided from a federal grant to help make the arrests.
It was part of a nationwide campaign in conjunction with the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office to help locate juvenile victims of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. Agents for the Nevada Attorney General’s office and state Gaming Control Board also participated in the effort.
The suspects ranged in ages from 18 to 51.
