COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Nevada baseball team dropped game one of a three-game Mountain West series 3-2 at Air Force on Friday afternoon. The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 23-19 overall and 13-9 in MW play. The Falcons improved to 16-20 and 6-16 in the MW.

Nevada scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, 1-0. Shortstop Kyle Hunt walked and eventually scored on a passed ball.

The Falcons answered with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. The big hit came with two down when third baseman Tyler Saleck doubled home two runs to make it 3-1. That would be all the runs the AFA would need, as Nevada managed to score just one more run in the bottom of the sixth on a ground ball by catcher Jordan Devencenzi.

The Pack had opportunities to score but left eight runners on base and hit into two double plays. One double play came with the bases loaded in the fourth and the second with two on in the eighth. Both ended innings.

Michael Fain (4-4) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in 7.1 innings on the mound. Cameron White (4-7) earned the victory, giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits. Nathan Sanford (4) pitched a perfect ninth inning to record his fourth save of the season.

Right fielder Trenton Brooks (3-for-4) led the Pack with three hits and third baseman Scott Kaplan (2-for-3) added three. Devencenzi had the Pack’s only RBI.

Spencer Draws (2-for-4), Tyler Jones (2-for-3,R) and Saleck (2-for-3,2RBI) had two hits apiece for the Falcons. Saleck drove home two with his third double of the year.
