They were moving the Methodist parsonage some yards nearer the church. Someone had purchased the north half of the block and was building a handsome residence there. The good Parson told us that it was the intention to build on a main structure in front of the old parsonage building — the money obtained from the sale of the said north half would be wisely applied for that purpose.

Physicians claim that there is no doubt that alcoholic liquors give physical strength. If this is true, there are men in this city ought to be able to take up the Capitol building and pitch it over the V&T Depot with one hand.

The Vitagraph people put on an attractive bill. A matinee will be given for children and films shown. “Uncle Tom’s Cabin,” or “Slavery Days,” is the leading picture. It comprises scenes from the great play from the Ohio River by moonlight to the flag. The entire play is reproduced by the machine.

Soon after the crew of a barrage balloon in East Anglia sent up a balloon, they noticed that Tibs, their pet black cat, was missing. When the balloon was hauled down later after 21 hours, they found Tibs curled up asleep in a comfortable silken balloon pocket.
