Tickets remains for Cristina Pato and Migrations

There are still some tickets available for the performance by Cristina Pato and Migrations tomorrow night at the Art Center.

Pato is a member of the well-known and popular ensemble, Yo Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project. She’s been performing since the age of twelve, has released four albums featuring her work on the gaita (Galician bagpipe), two more as a pianist and performed on the Grammy winning “Yo Yo Ma and Friends: Songs of Joy and Peace.”

She is also founder and director of Galician Connection, an annual world music forum in her native region of Spain.

She now lives in New York and her musical interests and styles are a wide ranging mix from collaborating on “Miles Espanol” with Chick Corea and Jack Dejohnette to appearing at the Kennedy Center awards ceremony with Yo Yo Ma.

Her repertoire ranges from high-spirited, and high-energy, reinterpretations of traditional Galician folk tunes through innovative covers of classic Miles Davis tunes such as “Blue in Green’ to quietly introspective pieces on the grand piano.

She’s performed at a wide range of venues around the world, and at many jazz clubs including the New York landmark, the Jazz Standard as well as shows at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and many, many others. The artists will hold a free and open-to-the public conversation of the musical styles and influences in the Art Center’s bar at 3 p.m. It will be a great chance to talk with this amazing performer in an up close and personal setting.

Tickets for the performance are $17 for CAC members, $20 for nonmembers and can be picked up at Jeff’s Copy Express, ITT @ NAS, Fallon or by calling Churchill Arts at 775-423-1440. Doors and no-host bar will open at 7 p.m. and the performance will begin at 8 p.m.

Preparations are underway for the first of the city of Fallon’s free in-the-park concerts coming on June 21. The concert will feature a performance by the Grammy winning band, Los Texmaniacs.

The day will also feature a wide variety of events celebrating Nevada’s sesquicentennial. We’ll have more info on these events in the coming weeks.
