The state Office of Energy is rolling out a new home weatherization program to assess and install recommended weatherization measures in a senior’s home.
Services and repairs worth up to $6,000 a home are available to qualifying senior homeowners. In addition to owning and living in the home, the applicants must be 60 or older, an NV Energy customer and have an income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
Gov. Brian Sandoval said the program offers low-income seniors a way to save money, conserve energy and live in healthier, safer homes.
The program will be administered by the Nevada Housing Division and is labeled the Home Energy Retrofit Opportunity for Seniors. Division Administrator C.J. Manthe said it’s an opportunity for qualified seniors to realize immediate monthly savings from improved energy efficiency.
He said the program will work in conjunction with other weatherization programs already operating across Nevada. For more information:
