I received a phone call from an older gentleman the other day asking me what the station number was for FoxSports 1. I honestly couldn’t tell him. The cable package here didn’t get it, and I’m not high enough up on the Dish Network scale to get it.
I think FOX and Major League Baseball deserves a big, hearty boo.
If MLB is going to give Fox the playoffs, that network either needs to pre-empt its regular programming or not bid on the contract.
Baseball playoff games should be on network TV all the time. I now consider ESPN network TV because anybody with a basic cable package gets ESPN.
Being a Giants fan, I hated I had to follow the games on the computer. Are you kidding me?
The entire World Series will be on FOX, not FoxSports 1, and that’s the way it should be.

Carson High boys and girls soccer have big weeks coming up. Both are striving to finish second in the Sierra League which means a first-round home game.
The boys have a make-up game at McQueen on Monday, host Galena on Wednesday and are at Manogue on Saturday. The Senators should beat McQueen and Manogue. They tied Galena in the first meeting. The girls host Galena on Tuesday and visit Manogue Saturday. Carson played its worst game of the year at Galena, losing 4-2. A sweep would be huge for the CHS girls.

My prediction for the World Series? Giants in 6. Did you expect anything else from somebody born in the Bay Area.
The Giants seemed destined for another World Series championship. They are coming through in the clutch offensively, and the bullpen has done well. I don’t know the Giants have anybody to match Greg Holland, but they may have more depth. I certainly would feel a lot better if Angel Pagan were in the starting line-up. He’s a great table-setter and Gregor Blanco hits better when he’s at the bottom of the order.
One thing is certain, the Giants need to count on NLCS MVP Madison Bumgarner for two wins.
A big key is how well the Giants pitchers can hold KC runners on, because the Royals like to run. No doubt the Royals will put Buster Posey to a severe test.

Western Nevada College’s softball team concludes its home fall program with a doubleheader at 10 a.m. today at Edmonds Park against the Nevada Lightning 18-year-old team.
“They’ve shown a lot of team chemistry from the beginning,” said WNC coach Leah Wentworth. “We’re trying to do what we can on our end to continue to enhance that chemistry. ”
The Wildcats’ fall schedule concludes with a visit to College of the Siskiyous on Oct. 25 and 26 in Weed, Calif. A wildfire devastated Weed last month, destroying more than 150 homes as well as a school and two churches, so Wentworth is unsure if those games will go on as planned.
The season begins Feb. 27 at home.
