The Carson City Mitey Mites knocked off Reno South, 25-12, Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.
Carson advances to a scond-round game against the Sparks Wolfpack at Golden Eagle Regional Park.
Isaac Avina, Jessie Delgado, Alex Myrehn and Keegan Ferris scored for Carson thanks to the blocking of Nick Cougran, Caid Milligan, John Newton, Jessie Metoxen and Tristan Hawkins.
CMS seventh grade girls win title
The Carson Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams finished up their seasons with the seventh graders winning the Tah-Neva League title, ending the year with a 14-0 record.
Captain Lily Bouza averaged 15 points a game to lead the seventh graders along with Lexi Philippi, Bella Kordonowy and twin towers Gabby Frank and Olivia Frank.
In the league tournament, Carson beat Carson Valley 28-5 in the semifinals with scoring as follows: Lily Bouza 12, Bella Kordonowy 12, Nacy Alvarez 2 and Brooke Robinson 2.
In the finals, Carson beat Alder Creek 25-8 with scoring as follows: Lily Bouza 11, Bella Kordonowy 8, Lauren Winne 2, Gabby Frank 2, and Cherish Creone 2.
The eighth graders had only eight players, including six eighth graders and advanced to the league tournament finals. Captain Abby Pradere scored 11 points a game to lead the team along with Tezia Boice, Jill Beglin, Shea DeJoseph and Miranda Glahn.
Carson opened the league tournament with a 37-13 win over Incline. Scoring was as follows: Abby Pradere 15, Jill Beglin 8, Shea DeJoseph 6, Tezia Boice 4, Miranda Glahn 2, and a Chole Pierson 2.
Carson then upset Eagle Valley in the semifinals 21-11 using a box and 1 defense against high scoring Haley Garver who was held to just 2 points by Jill Beglin.
In the finals, Carson trailed Pau Wa Lu by just four points with two minutes to play before Pau Wa Lu pulled away for a 32-22 win. Scoring was as follows: Abby Pradere 1, Shea DeJoseph 8, Miranda Glahn 8, and Tezia Boice 5.
Raiders Booster Club hosts event
The Carson City Raiders Booster Club’s annual Christmas Commitment fundraiser benefiting home bound seniors is coming up on Nov. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carson Lanes Eleventh Frame Lounge.
For more than 20 years, CCRBC has been committed to making the holidays merrier for home bound seniors in our community. All proceeds from the live auction, silent auction and raffles will be used to purchase Christmas gifts from the seniors wish lists which are obtained from the
Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program. Our elves will be shopping, wrapping and delivering gifts to these deserving members of our community in mid-December.

Masiello wins top flight at Empire
John Masiello shot a net 63 to win Flight A at the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club event on Oct. 22.
Bob Pitcock and Steve Scharfe tied for second at 64. John Lewis won Flight B with a 66. He won a tie-breaker with Ken Cuneo. Dan Powers was third with a 69. Melvin Ness won Flight C with a 68, defeating Jim Watt in a tie-breaker. Greg Bentley was third with a 70.
Poe group wins CVGC tourney
Charles Poe, Dennis Morrison, Dan Essary and Bob Pemberton carded a net 64 to win the Carson Valley Golf Club’s Mulligan Stew Tournament.
Lori Korzeniewski was the closest to the hole winner on No. 18.
Elks soccer winners honored
The Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge soccer winners were recently honored.
For the boys, Ezequiel Varela won the U-8, Hunter Rowlalt won the U-10, Moises DelaTorre won U-12, Jack Smith took the U-14 title and Crew Iworna won U-19.
For the girls, Ellie Boggs won U-8, Andy Doerr won U-10, Jordyn Shaw won U-12, Meagen Hillyer won U-14 and Lara Brown won U-19.
