Steffany Walker of Kit Carson Toastmasters Club won first place in the Area 23 International Speech and Table Topics competition March 21 at the State of Nevada Health Division.
The event is part of the International Speech Contest planned at the Toastmasters International Convention this summer in Las Vegas.
Walker competed against other speakers from Carson City, Douglas County and South Lake Tahoe. Her win allows her to advance in the Division B competition this month.
Walker, who has won other speaking awards, has been a member of Toastmasters International since 2011.
Kit Carson Toastmaster meets Tuesday mornings at Grandma Hattie’s Restaurant. New members are always welcome.
