University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman announced Wednesday forward Leland King has been added to the Wolf Pack basketball roster.
King is a transfer from Brown University and will sit out next under NCAA transfer rules and will be eligible to play two seasons for the Pack starting in 2016-17.
“Leland is a multiple positional player who has proven history at the Division I level,” Musselman said. “Our staff and players are extremely excited to add him to our basketball family. Leland’s strong academic background will enhance our culture both on the floor and in the classroom.”
In two seasons at Brown, King played in 46 games and earned 20 starts for the Bears. As a freshman he averaged 9.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and shot 45.4 percent from the field in 29 games with six starts. In 12 games he netted double figures with a season-high 27 coming against Harvard.
King played 25.5 minutes per game and averaged 14.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and shot 47.1 percent, starting 14 games and playing in 17 his sophomore season. In 13 games King scored in double figures and scored a season-high 25 points in back-to-back games at Holy Cross and Indiana State.
As a prep athlete King graduated from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Calif., where he lettered four years in basketball. He was the team captain and team MVP his senior season. King earned first-team All-Alpha League honors his junior and senior seasons. Following his senior campaign he was named the Alpha League MVP and was a first-team all-state selection.
