Dimitria “Dee” Goforth-Swain was born January 29, 1933 in Canonsburg, PA to Michael and Helen Dimitriou. Dee’s family moved to Los Angeles in 1945 where she graduated from Lincoln High School. Dee married Donald Goforth and they had a daughter, Donna. Dee had a remarkable career as supervisor of cash at the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve bank. She was honored with a plaque from President George H. W. Bush and the Secret Service identifying her as the

country’s counterfeit bill expert. After retirement, Dee moved to Minden Nevada to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Dee reunited with John Swain who had courted her in junior high school. They married in 2001 and lived in Minden where they enjoyed their families and friends. They were also active in the Douglas County Senior Center for many years. Dee is survived by her loving husband John, daughter Donna Theriault (Stephen), grandchildren Daniel Theriault, Victoria Grant (Christian), sisters Kitsa Gifford, Vi Fagan, and Georgia Maropulos. Dee passed away July 21 and will be laid to rest with her parents at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California. Services were held Friday July 31st in the Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn. A celebration of her life will be held in Gardnerville, the date to be determined.
