Holiday crafts that celebrate the Nevada pine trees are on the agenda for the December program “Pines are Fine” at the Nevada State Museum in Carson City from 10 a.m. to 3.pm. Dec. 12. No reservations are needed and guests of all ages are welcome.

Part of the museum’s monthly Family Fun Saturdays series, the salute to conifers includes pine needle angels, pine cone wreaths and decorative ornaments. Volunteers will help guests make the crafts. Guests will discover the differences between pine, fir and spruce trees and will learn about pine nuts as an important food source for animals and humans in the region.

Admission is $8 for adults and free for children ages 17 and younger and for museum members. Contact Deborah Stevenson at dstevenson@nevadaculture.org or 775-687-4810, ext. 237.
