An aural feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment is in store when the Carson City Symphony presents its 32nd Annual Holiday Treat concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
This year’s program will feature the Carson City Symphony Chorus and the New Victorian Dancers. Pre-concert entertainment by saxophone and string quartets.
The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director/Conductor David Bugli, will perform several works, including “O Holy Night,” “Fantasia on ‘We three Kings’,” “Let it Snow,” “Festive Sounds of Hanukah,” and others. The Carson City Symphony Chorus, under the direction of choral conductor Michael Langham, will perform “Ave Maria,” “Birthday Carol,” and the humorous P.D.Q Bach piece “Good King Kong Looked Out.”
The Chorus and Symphony together will present “’White Christmas” and “Fum, Fum, Fum.”
The New Victorian Dancers, choreographed by Tiffany Alm and directed by Sonja Radig, will whirl and swirl to the music of Johann Strauss, Jr.’s “Artist’s Life” waltzes. Performers and audience will join together for the traditional Holiday Treat finale, “A Christmas Sing-along.”
Capital City Arts Initiative’s art show and sale precedes the concert at 3 p.m. in the lobby.
Five local artists will have their work for sale. There will be glass ornaments by William Hutchison; books, cards and prints by Carol Brown; watercolor still lifes by Cyndy Brenneman; silk scarves by Claudia Knous; and prints and bookmarks by Sharon Tetly. Concert tickets are $15 for general admission; $12 for seniors, students, and Symphony Association members; and free for children ages 16 and under. Tickets are available in advance at Carson City Visitors Bureau, 716 N. Carson St.; and online at CCSymphony.com; and also by mail and at the door.
Blood donors can receive a complimentary ticket to the concert if they donate at United Blood Services’ Carson City Donor Center through Saturday.
