Religion briefly: Eckankar worship service today

Anyone who attends a free worship service at 10 a.m. today at the Carson City Community Center can learn more about the topic “Breaking Free Spiritually.”

The session is sponsored by Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God. The one-hour service includes a talk by a facilitator, followed by readings, a small-group discussion and a short contemplation.

Christmas services planned

St. Mary’s in the Mountains, 111 E. St. in Virginia City, is hosting Catholic Mass at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve. A midnight Mass is also planned on Christmas Eve, with choir music will start at 11:30 p.m. Christmas Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. For more information, call 775-847-9099.

St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community, 3000 N. Lompa Lane, is holding Mass on Christmas Eve at 4, 6 and 9 p.m. Mass on Christmas will be at 8 and 10 a.m. with Mass in Spanish at noon.

Christmas Eve candlelight services are planned at 5 and 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 306 W. Musser St.

Capital Christina Center, 1600 Snyder Ave., is hosting a Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

Service at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395, will be at 5 and 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Fountainhead Foursquare Church, 3690 Highway 395 in Carson City, is hosting a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m.

Christmas Eve services are planned at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at Division and Telegraph streets. A children’s service will be at 5:30 p.m. Carols and scripture will be at 8 p.m., with a candlelight service at 10 p.m.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service is planned at 6 p.m. at Gift of Grace Lutheran Church, 290 S. West St., Fernley. Call 775-575-5400.

Mass at Corpus Christi Catholic Church will be at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Mass the following day will be at 10 a.m., with a Spanish Mass at noon.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1750 N. Carson St. It will include singing Christmas carols, music, a message, the observance of the Lord’s Supper and a candle lighting. For more information, call 775-882-1851.

Calvary Chapel, 1635 Clearview Drive, is holding a morning prayer service at 10 a.m. on Christmas.
