Despite a bump in the road on Tuesday, the Churchill County Middle School eighth-grade volleyball is on a roll.

The Lady Wave currently sit at 5-2 on the season after a 25-22, 19-25, 16-14 loss to Dayton. Both of Fallon’s losses have been to the Dust Devils, but Fallon is preparing for the Sagebrush League tournament on March 6-7.

The Lady Wave played Silverland (Fernley) on Thursday, although results were not available at press time, and cap the season in a nonleague match against Winnemucca on Tuesday.

“The eighth grade volleyball team has an amazing amount of talent this year,” coach Nicole Rogne said. “They have worked hard to come together as a team. When they are moving and working together on the court, they are a very fun team to watch and coach. We have had a great season so far, with our only losses to Dayton in league.”

The seventh-grade team, meanwhile, also fell at Dayton, 28-26, 25-21. Fallon sits at 3-4 in league play and also finishes the season against Silverland and Winnemucca before the league tournament.

“The seventh grade girls have come so far from the beginning of the season,” coach Heather Stokes said. “I have seen so much improvement in all of the girls. Continuing their hard work and dedication, I know that they will just continue to get better and continue to improve as a team.”
