Jane S. Ternau passed away peacefully on December 17, 2014 in Carson City, NV. She was born on March 5, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA to Charles and Mary Sharp. Jane is survived by her son John Ternau (Margo) of Reno, NV, grandson AJ Ternau of Carson City, granddaughter Lacy (Ternau) Trapp of Reno, daughter Judy Havilland (Bill) of Renton, WA, grandson Matthew Hayward of Portland, OR, grandson Ryan Hayward of Renton, WA and great granddaughters Corinne Ternau and Ryanne Trapp.

Jane’s family moved to Woodbury, NJ where she grew up with her sisters Ruth and Betty and graduated from Woodbury High school. During WWII Jane enlisted as a WAVE in the US Navy in Philadelphia, PA serving as a 3rd class petty officer in Washington, DC. She was honorably discharged in December 1945. After WWII Jane married Albert Ternau and the two of them traveled to and settled in Carson City, NV to raise a family. Jane worked as a telephone operator in the early years and then changed to a career working in the medical field for various doctors in Carson City. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 50 years serving the community. She enjoyed the outdoors whether at a Lake Tahoe beach, camping, picnicking at Bowers Mansion, snow skiing as a chaperone with the Carson Comets, or just working in her garden at home. Jane was also an avid bowler and enjoyed many days with her friends on the local lanes and at the Reno Bowling Stadium tournaments. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later time yet to be determined.
