The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors named Anje de Knijf of Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty as its director for Douglas County.

In her new role, de Knijf will help her Douglas County clients find the best property to fit their needs.

de Knijf, who was named a commissioner for the Douglas County Planning Commission earlier this month, enjoys volunteering for various organizations, and when time allows, she takes advantage of outdoor recreational opportunities in the Lake Tahoe area.

The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors is a professional organization supporting realtors in the Sierra Nevada region, including Carson, Douglas, Churchill and Lyon counties, except Fernley. It provides members with guidance and professional tools enabling them to deliver superior service to residents and newcomers; and to participate in the political process to protect the industry and private property rights.

Parent company of Carson store donates

Stage Stores, Inc. — the parent company of several department stores including Bealls — donated more than $3 million to over 850 community organizations last year as part of its Community Counts program.

The program has donated over $5.9 million to over 2,000 organizations in the last five years. It gives back to the community in which each store is located.

From the $3 million donated, $1.4 million came from customer donations during the 30 Days of Giving campaign. Customers who visited any one of the company’s department stores in March or September were invited to donate to a local group in their community that store associates selected.

Customers continued to give and open their hearts during the holiday season by donating more than $1 million to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the nationwide Thanks & Giving campaign. As part of Stage Stores’ annual Bears That Care program, custom designed teddy bears were sold to raise over $100,000 for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
