Joyce Marty Hammerlun

July 5, 1940 - June 6, 2015

Joyce Marty Hammerlun passed away on June 6, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born to Eugene and Thelma Marty in Tonopah, Nevada on July 5, 1940. She married John Holmstrom Jr. in 1957. She lived in Lovelock and then Reno where they raised their family. Joyce married Gene Hammerlun in 1997, and moved to Gardnerville. A woman of strong faith, she touched every life she encountered. She was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid horsewoman, enjoyed quilting, and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gene Baker. She is survived by her husband Gene Hammerlun, sister Patty Flowers, sons Hugh Charlebois, Dan (Lisa) Charlebois, Marty (Stacie) Holmstrom, daughter Kirsten (Justin) Zubieta, stepson Justin (Melissa) Hammerlun, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren include Nicole, Danielle, Derek, Travis, Natasha, Vanessa, Cherise, Christina, Erika, Alyssa, Nathan and Brady. Also 6 great-grandchildren.: Korey, Tavyn, Dilynn, Trent, Mikaia, and Alexis. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Gall’s Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, Nevada. Committal to follow at Eastside Memorial Park. Reception will follow at the church.
