Joseph Gene Baum was born August 1, 1931 in Midvale, Utah to Thelma Welch and Clyde Baum. Gene passed away May 15th surrounded by loved ones at the home of his daughter in Carson City, Nevada.

Gene’s family moved to Battle Mountain Nevada where he grew up working a number of jobs including ranch work, construction and mining. Gene married Maxine Olson in 1952 and had two son’s Al and Andy Baum of Battle Mountain, NV. They divorced in 1954. Gene married the love of his life Lois Calder in 1956.
