For a number of Fallon cowboys and all cowgirls, last week was their final ride of the season.

But for four cowboys, the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca was a warm-up for next week’s National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo.

At the SSIR, however, one Fallon cowboy flexed his muscles once more capping a solid season in the arena and for the Greenwave.

Sam Goings took seventh in the tie-down roping event with a time of 12.98 seconds, making him Fallon’s highest-placing athlete at the SSIR.

Joleen Weir, meanwhile, was Fallon’s next highest finisher, as she took 34th in barrel racing. She clocked a time of 19.075.

She also took 62nd in goat tying with a time of 24.56 in the first go and followed with a 13.07 in the second go for a two-head average of 37.63.

Sydney Felton continued Fallon’s success with a 40th-place finish in pole bending with a time of 29.01 Caleb Hendrix came in 41st in tie-down with runs 28.79 and 18.89 for a 47.68.

Leighton Beyer rounded out the Fallon contingent, as she placed 60th in barrel racing with a 23.518.

Cord Hendrix, meanwhile, qualified for the SSIR in several events but did not compete.

He, along with Caleb Hendrix, Jes Tews and Mackay Spyrow will participate in the national rodeo.
