Minden concert series hosting Southern tribute band Savannah Blue

The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department 2015 GE Family Concert Series continues Friday when Savannah Blue, A Southern Rock Review, takes the stage in Minden Park.

Savannah Blue is a band from Northern California whose shows pay tribute to Southern rock bands, from Lynyrd Skynyrd to The Allman Brothers and The Marshall Tucker Band to Outlaws.

Founding members are Dean Fisher, lead guitarist and Mike Cochran, bassist. Along with Mike Macchi, vocalist and harmonicist; Scott Johnson, guitarist and vocalist; Larry Audino, keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist; and Tony Vivilacqua, drummer and vocalist; Savannah Blue brings its audience the best show possible.

Other events in the series are Mumbo Gumbo on Aug. 7; Shane Dwight on Aug. 28; and Austinpalooza Sept. 11 at TJ’s Corral at the Carson Valley Inn.

All concerts, which are free to attend, are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., except on Aug. 28, when the show will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Fifth Street will be closed to allow parking and concessions. RV parking will be allowed in a designated area starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the concerts; an RV Pass is required. For a pass, call 775-782-5500, ext. 1.

No lawn space can be reserved until 7 a.m. on the day of concert. Blankets are not allowed on the lawn until after 5 p.m. on the day of the event. Reserved spaces must be no larger than 10 feet by 10 feet.
