The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says two people are in custody in connection with 18 burglaries in the Dayton area.

Officers received their break last weekend when the Reno Police Department responded to a call for a gunshot wound. Upon responding, Matthew Miller was found with an accidental gunshot wound after watching a YouTube video on how to unload a firearm. The gun was reported stolen during one of the reported 18 burglaries in the Dayton residential neighborhoods of Riverboard Road, River Park and Sutro.

Working with Reno PD, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was able to recover stolen property from the alleged burglaries.

Miller and his accomplice, Brittany Toth, have both been arrested and booked in the Washoe County Jail.

A criminal complaint has been filed by the Lyon County District Attorney’s office against Toth for seven counts of burglary and two counts of firearm grand larceny.

A similar complaint is expected next week against Miller, who’s currently a felony fugitive from California on burglary charges.

The LCSO is planning a victim’s viewing in the upcoming weeks.

Investigators believe there may be more victims who have not stepped forward. The office is asking anyone having any additional information regarding the case to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office at 775-575-3350 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900 or at www.secretwitness.com.
