What was described as a “melee” by deputies resulted in an arrest Sunday night at the In & Out Burger in Indian Hills.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight involving around two-dozen people at Carson Valley Plaza at 10 p.m.

A deputy said that when he arrived people pointed out a blue sedan trying to leave the parking lot as others fled the area either on foot or in other vehicles.

The driver of the blue sedan, Carson City resident Ricardo Montalvo, 20, was detained after witnesses said he battered another man.

An NHP trooper advised the deputy that the altercation started at the Fuji Park rodeo earlier Sunday night.

Montalvo told the deputy he was jumped by some Lake Tahoe men at the rodeo. He said he heard that those men would be at the In & Out later and that he went there to get even. He battered two men in front of the restaurant.

According to the sheriff’s report, Montalvo had been drinking. A preliminary breath test revealed he had a .224 blood alcohol content.

One of the victims agreed to press charges against Montalvo, who was booked into Douglas County Jail.
