Carson City nursery hosting spring gardening events

Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry St., is hosting free gardening seminars and other events Saturdays in March.

David Ruf will present Let’s Get a Jump on Spring at 10 a.m. Saturday. Ruf will cover topics including how and when to fertilize, the benefits of using organics and how to prevent weeds and bugs by taking measures now.

Ruf and Tom Henderson, a certified arborist with Healthy Trees, will present their annual pruning seminar at 10 a.m., followed by a hands-on workshop at 11 a.m., on March 14. The events will be held outdoors.

What’s the Buzz with Mason Bees with David Ruf will be at 10 a.m. March 21. Ruf will demonstrate how to make a simple bee habitat.

Start Your Engines — Planting Cool Season Crops, an outdoor seminar in which Ruf will talk about how to plant cool season crops outdoors from seed, will be at 10 a.m. March 28.

The events are free, and reservations are not required.
