The Capital City Community Band will celebrate its 37th concert season with its annual “A Salute to Young Musicians,” a celebration of Carson City’s student musicians, at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, in the Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center.

The free concert will feature the combined elementary choirs from Bordewich-Bray, Fritsch, and Seeliger elementary schools performing a variety of songs. The choirs will also perform patriotic music and Beatles songs. The band will perform a variety of music, from the William Tell Overture to the Wizard Of Oz.

Also featured will be a trombone trio consisting of Eli Kohler, Allison Ansel, and Tayler Duby, all students at Douglas High School, a clarinet duet featuring Fritsch Elementary School fifth-grader Riley Gudmundson and her grandmother and band member Mary Lynn Atkins and Carson Middle School saxophonist Jacob Richetta.

The combined choirs are under the direction of Alan Catron, Carla Sims and Mary Law and consist mainly of fourth and fifth grade students. Each choir meets before classes begin at each individual elementary school and perform many concerts in the community.
