The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred at 9 p.m. Thursday evening. Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says that’s when two masked male suspects entered a gaming establishment in the 300 block of East Winnie Lane. Upon entry one of the suspects pointed a .22 caliber pistol at two casino employees.
The incident occurred while the employees were preparing to close the business for the evening. One of the suspects ordered both employees to the ground and threatened to “kill” them if they moved. During the robbery, the second suspect, described as a larger man, calmly walked around the counter and began removing money from an open safe. After removing the money, the two suspects took both of the employees cell phones and fled out the back door of the casino. No one was injured during incident.
Witnesses in the area reported that at the time of the robbery, they saw two masked suspects leaving the rear of the casino. While no detailed descriptions were available, the witnesses stated that the two suspects entered a gray Chevrolet Envoy with a possible license plate similar to “KHALEA” and fled the area toward north Carson City. A check of the reported license plate numbers has not developed any leads to identify the suspects.
“We would like to emphasize that the reported license plate number may be a variation of the exact plate,” Furlong said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carson City Communications Center at 887-2014. Both suspects in this matter should be considered armed and dangerous.
