Banner Health Center in Fernley has moved into a new $9.8 million facility.
The new 13,670-square-foot building is a big step up from the clinic’s former office in Fernley and will accommodate up to six practitioners as well as additional services, including X-rays and, in the future, mammogram testing.
“We were previously in an old retail center, next to a pharmacy and could only have two providers at once,” said Dr. Justin Heath, a family medicine provider at Banner Health Clinic in Fallon.
“The examining rooms were small, more like closets, and now they are very spacious, easy to get wheelchairs in and out.”
Two family medicine providers — Hersh K. Patel, MD and Darla Kneeland, PA-C — will be located at the Fernley clinic and Dr. William Beckman, a gynecologist/obstetrician, will see patients there on Fridays.
The clinic is associated with Banner Churchill Community Hospital where, for example, pregnant ob/gyn patients seen at the clinic will go for delivery. Heath said another family medicine provider will be added in January 2016 and the clinic is actively recruiting for internal medicine physicians.
“The goal is to serve the needs of Fernley and we needed space for growth,” said Heath.
The Lyon County community, with a population of roughly 20,000, is also locally served by a Renown Health Urgent Care clinic, which provides primary care and X-ray and lab services. Banner Health Center in Fernley was built by Sparks-based Clark & Sullivan Construction.
